PMCS

You should flush your Solar Water Heater Tank every year, and every 5-7 years your system is due for a PMCS. Below we explain what that consists of;

Preventive Checks and Services

Changing Anode Rod
Anode Rod is the sacrificial part of the whole Solar System. It is made out of magnezium, the weakest metal in the whole System. When Electrolysis takes place, it looks for the weakest metal and it will eat away at it. After 5 to 7 years the Anode Rod has deteriorated.

Changing Temperature Pressure Relief Valve on Tank and Pressure Relief Valve on Panels
TPR Valve is a valve that opens when the pressure and the heat of the Tank is high. In time, springs in the TPR get weak and relieve more often, causing water loss.

Inspection of Back Up System
Check Timer to make sure the motor is working and pins are in place, Check the Thermostat and Heating Element for power draw.

Inspection of Solar Heating System
Check Controller to make sure its cycling, coming on and off. Check the Pump to make sure it’s running, Check the Sensors for good reading and Check the Sensor Wire integrity.

Clean Solar Panels
Improves Solar Radiation, Removes haze and mold from glass and improves overall performance of your system

Reseal Roof Penetration (Accessible)
Prevent Water Damage from old and cracked sealant

Flushing of Tank and Panels
Flushing Tank to get rid of sediment buildup in Tank and Panels

Overall System Review
Ensure proper system performance to maximize your investment

After 5-7 years, there are parts in your system that need to be changed, just like you change the oil in your car, to keep it running. If you fail to maintain your system, it will fail prematurely. Call us to schedule a PMCS today! (808) 372-6691
